Pumpkin Patch

Picking out the perfect pumpkin is no joke. It takes some skill and a whole lotta patience. You have to find the pumpkin with the right color, shape and size. Most of all, its got to have a stem. Who wants a stemless pumpkin? Mark and I ventured out to a nearby pumpkin patch last weekend to find our first ever pumpkin. Wish I took more pics but selecting the perfect pumpkin took priority. Looking forward to baking the seeds later this week!

Window Shopping

Just a few blocks from my apartment is the one of most unique, interesting shops in all of Miami. It's called Frida Kahlo after the famous Mexican painter. The store carries an eclectic mix of apparel, jewelry, art, body lotions and random nick nacks. I stepped in the other day while doing some window shopping and the sales woman was nice enough to let me snap a few quick photos.

Meet Mathias

Now here is one little ball of energy. Meet Mathias - son of my colleague Chad and his wonderful wife Bibi.  While playing several rounds of chase-Mathias-around-the-room last weekend at the Viva Fashion Event, I was able to snap a few quick pics. This one is my favorite, mostly because of how big he is smiling. The background looks pretty cool too without any editing.

Sidewalk Supper @ Ra

We made a decision tonight. Must go to Ra Sushi more often. This place has the best Spicy Miso Soup. Who even knew such a thing exists? We also ordered the Spicy Tuna Bowl (pictured below) and were seriously impressed by the large amount of tuna they give you. The edamame was a big hit with Rusty. Dogs can eat soy beans, right? All in all, great meal, better company. Love ya sis.

Lily Time

I think a fight almost broke out during brunch the other day over who was going to hold Baby Lily next. Who knew a bunch of 20-somethings would be so gaga for a baby! But just look at her. How can you resist?

Proud parents Victoria and Nick invited a group of us to brunch at JB's in Deerfield Beach. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day. JB's is right on the beach so you get a cool breeze and a spectacular view of the ocean and pier. It was great catching up with old friends and of course, seeing how much Lily has grown in just two months.

Morning View

On my run around Brickell Key this morning, I bumped into my colleague Chad (from Brickell Life) who was snapping a panorama shot with his iPhone of the beautiful sunrise over the bay. Chad sent me the photo when we got into the office today and I love it so much, I had to post.

The water looked particularly blue and glossy this morning. Have to admit, this view makes waking up at 6:00 a.m. not all that bad. Be on the look out for more amazing sunrise pics from Chad at http://brickell-life.blogspot.com/.

Backstage Beauties

Last night, Suave and celebrity hairstylist Rocca Donna invited me to Icon Brickell for the Miami Hair, Beauty & Fashion 2010 event. You see, I'm actually not new to the blogosphere. For the past two years I've been running a blog called Premium Grade Hair and that is why I received this invite. Only recently did I get really into photography.

While I couldn't stay at the event long, I was able to go backstage to see some of the models getting prepped. It was really chaotic - beautiful women, talented hairstylists, glitter and cameras galore!

Oh my clutch

Check out my fashion find from the Salvation Army store. This cute clutch cost me $4.50! Is this a steal or what? My friend Carmen and I decided to do a little shopping during our lunch break yesterday after we found out that the Salvation Army offers half off all their clothes every Wednesday.

All these fashion blogs I've been reading lately for photo inspiration always feature the best thrift store discoveries so I was excited for our trip. Granted, we had to drive through a pretty sketchy neighborhood to score this clutch, but it was worth it.

Red Hot Bistro

There's a little Asian bistro in Brickell called Indochine which lights up the whole street with its red bulbs and bright neon signs. It's hard to resist Indochine's funky atmosphere, tasty cuisine and exotic martinis. The Lychee Martini is a personal fav and I highly recommend.

I've been sick the last few days which means no happy hour for me. However, I was able to get out for a nice walk around the neighborhood tonight. I took this picture with a 10 second shutter speed while standing across the street. One of the waiters was definitely staring at me through the front door wondering what the hell I was doing taking pictures in the pitch black. Oh well.

I Scream for Ice Cream

Nothing like sneaking away from the office for a little ice cream break! Last week, I met up with the Caveman - the blogger behind Sugar Cave, a blog totally dedicated to all things sweet. I brought my camera along as I introduced the Caveman to the new Cold Creations dessert line at Checkers (one of the accounts I work on). I really like the way this particular photo came out so I decided to post it. Shot it with a 50 mm lens, aperture wide open at 1.8.

Save the Tatas

Since the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month (Oct 1), the Bank of America building in Downtown Miami has been lit up pink! I took this shot from my balcony using a tripod. I left the shutter open for 25 seconds and used the self timer to prevent camera shake when pressing the shutter release. This is a good trick if you're like me and have yet to purchase a remote control.

Next week, I'll be participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure. It's not too late to sign up if you want to help raise money to save tatas! Visit http://komenmiaftl.org/ for more info and I'll be sure to post some photos from the race.
